Join us this year to celebrate our 107th Annual Installation Dinner on January 27, 2017. We will present the 2016 Business of the Year Award and the 2016 Community Leader Award.
We have a longstanding history of community and economic development in National City. National City has one of the healthiest business climates in southern California, with the highest sales tax per capita in the county. We continue to represent the interest of the business community and recognize the many contributions of our members.
National City’s 2017 Mariachi Festival & Competition is a community-friendly event providing entertainment for families to come together and celebrate San Diego’s Mexican heritage through mariachi music, traditional ballet folkloric dancing, and a celebration of arts, culture, and culinary delights.
The mariachi program supports today’s youth in their artistic, individual and educational development. On March 10 and 11, 2017, prior to the festival, we are offering mariachi practitioners a two-day music conference at the University of San Diego. The conference will consist of mariachi music instruction and training for 300 students from throughout the United States by renowned Mariachi educators and practitioners. The conference participants will be invited to the mariachi festival and competition on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Pepper Park in National City.

In 2009, The National City Chamber of Commerce held it’s first annual Golf Tournament in memory of Mayor Kile Morgan. Mayor Morgan was not only a long term Mayor but was also an epic civic leader who was instrumental in the Chamber’s development and was greatly responsible for building the Chamber’s beautiful new facility located at 901 National City Blvd. He was also recognized as one of the founders of the Mile of Cars. Thanks to a groundswell of support from the Morgan family, City officials (especially Mayor Ron Morrison and Councilman Jess Van Deventer) and other community leaders as well as interested citizens, the tournament raised enough money to retire the debt on the Chamber building.
Proceeds from the tournament allow the Chamber to increase and expand its outreach efforts to assist members. This includes, but is not limited to administering National City’s Economic Development Programming, conducting outreach for the Enterprise Zone Program and servicing businesses with their marketing, permitting, and development needs.

The National City Chamber of Commerce together with the City of National City will honor the men and women of service in the Unites States Navy during the 60th Annual Salute to Navy luncheon on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center (140 East 12th Street, National City, CA 91950).
National City’s Salute to Navy has been a longstanding tradition for the past 60 years. National City holds this event every year during the month of October which celebrates the Navy’s birthday. This is the first and longest running event of its kind in the United States.
National City’s Salute to Navy was founded by ex-Army businessman George Buell, who was manager of the W.T. Grant Department Store in National City. He recognized the long and mutually supportive association between the military in San Diego and the community specifically the strong ties between National City and its Naval Station neighbor. This event is an opportunity to express city wide gratitude to our armed forces and highlight the Navy’s impact on the local and regional economy such as their contributions to education, workforce development, national security, and economic development.
Honorary Key Note Speaker, TBD.
