San Diego is a frequent destination for business conventions and professionals because of its big hotel scene. Throughout this post, we will discuss efficient travel tips for business travelers as they make their way to San Diego for their next trip.
Laptop? Check. Chargers? Check. Shaving kit? Check. Business attire? Check.
There’s little you don’t know about what to pack for a trip; the point of this post, though, is to help you learn different travel techniques for being in the city. Below, we’ll share some advice every business traveler should take into consideration.
It wouldn’t be a business trip without doing something “San Diego,” such as going to the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Petco Park, or one of the city’s fabulous beaches. However, often the best adventures you’ll have in San Diego are the sporadic ones. The best advice we can give here is not to over-plan your trip. Instead, since you’re likely staying in a downtown hotel, go out into the city and see what you stumble into.
Speaking of hotels, there are a number of great lodging options throughout the city. For instance, the Grand Del Mar, which is actually north of downtown San Diego and perhaps not the most efficient considering you’re there on business, is one of the highest rated hotels in the country. If you don’t mind using public transportation or renting a car, you could also check out the Lodge at Torrey Pines, the Grande Colonial Hotel, or the Rancho Bernardo Inn. Regardless, you will be easily impressed by whatever hotel you choose to stay at.
But at the end of the day, after your conference or meeting or big presentation, nothing beats the nightlife in San Diego. In the Gaslight District, for example, you can find dozens of high-end night clubs, bars, restaurants, and so much more. One place in particular is the Altitude Skybar & Garden Lounge, located on the roof of the Marriott Hotel. In fact, its location is so great that you can even see into Petco Park (where the Padres play) from the club.
Since you’re already dressed up, think about checking out the Tipsy Crow in the Gaslamp Quarter, Vin de Syrah, Belly Up Tavern for live music, FLUXX or Stingaree for a real club scene, or any other place that matches your mood.
4. Efficiency? Don’t Worry About It
For those who have been in San Diego for business, you already know what we’re going to say: San Diego area is one of the easiest, most fun, most accessible cities in the country. So why not take your boss up on that next convention date? You won’t regret it!
